Walk and Weft

Sunday 24th November 2019 A very murky day, but with no rain forecast we decided to head into the Dales to explore Kilnsey Moor, a large expanse of wild empty hills.  We have walked many times from Conistone Bridge, but always up or down Wharfedale, this time we turned west, aiming for a distant track which can be seen disappearing over the moor.  This is Mastiles Lane which eventually reaches Malham Tarn.   There are always horses around this area and some were being trained at Bow Bridge as we climbed steadily on the muddy track.  Were we out of practice...

Sunday 27th October 2019. Our walk today started on an easy accessible car park, free with plenty of parking space, that we have used for walks many times at Helwith Bridge, north of Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. On leaving the car park we turned left and followed the road to Helwith Bridge Quarry, from there taking the path up to Moughton Nab which runs along side Dry Rig Quarry. We have just launch our first Synthesizer Dust Cover - for the Korg Minilogue -  which has been in development for the last few weeks.  Having recently bought a lovely Moog Matriarch Synthesizer I was keen for Ann to make a cover for it as she has done for previous purchases.  Whilst walking near Conistone a few weeks back we started brainstorming the idea of making covers for gadgets, and it made sense to use the much more compact Korg Minilogue to develop the idea which went through a number of prototypes.  Sunday 20th October 2019. This weeks walk involved catching the 9.45am train from Skipton in North Yorkshire to Dent in Cumbria, then walking over Great Knoutberry Hill to Ribblehead station. The train journey is on the well known Settle to Carlisle line, which is a 73 mile long railway line in the North of England. The route crosses remote scenic areas of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines. What a great way to get into the Dales without the HASSLE of today`s needing-to-go-faster motorists. Saturday 12th October 2019. Our walks are a little bit unambitious at the moment, we are hopefully building up to bigger things.  A very good easy walk we do quite regularly is Conistone to Grassington which we walked again last Saturday (12th October). After much bad weather we finally had a nice day, though there were showers around.  Instead of starting the walk up Conistone Dib, a narrow dry limestone ravine, we quickly gained height on Scot Gate Lane, passing the distinctive antenna on Wassa Hill before joining the Dalesway.  Here the track is mostly green and very easy going...
